On 20th July 2021, the South Australian premier announced a 6 day lockdown due to the Modbury cluster of Covid-19. I have previously blogged on the Parafield cluster lockdown, and mandatory self isolation. This is post 9 in the the current lockdown series. Today, I still hadn’t got my result when it was time to leave for work.
I know plenty of people have had this worse than I – I can use my leave to cover these days and get paid. But it still sucks. I want to use my leave to go away, not be confined to the house.
It’s funny that I extended my own isolation in March 2020, because I had to take a covid test, then, too.
I hid out at home, doing more hallway painting, sorting more paperwork, eating more junk food, and letting my husband do a dog adoption. Eventually, at midday, I got a text telling me I’m negative to covid-19. I had little doubt that I would be, but anyway: Woohoo.
I went down to the suburbs, picked up a surrendered dog, went shopping for food, returned a library book, and got take away food. It was good – it was freedom! But I had to wear a mask and I haven’t worn a mask for that long, that consistently before and it’ll take some getting used to. But I’m sure it’s more comfortable than covid.
I came home and planned my future Kangaroo Island holiday! A perhaps overly-optimistic plan for December.
