An alien force has arrived on Earth. They declare the planet is doomed and demand access to the world’s youth in order to process them and relocate them off-planet—never to return.
Seventeen-year-old Star-ron is mysteriously sprung from juvenile detention. It’s part of a desperate, secret plan by the Prime Minister to hide privileged teenagers in the Victorian wilderness. Only Star-ron knows the hidden cave that can keep them safe. If successful, Star-ron hopes he can reduce his prison sentence—if they ever catch him again. Ashamed of his past, he keeps his criminal identity a secret.
Sheltered “good-girl” Laura begins to respect Star-ron, until a static-filled radio broadcast describes him as “violent’” with an “extensive” criminal past. The fragile trust she built in him is shattered—even as she hides her own secret: she is the Prime Minister’s daughter.
In the old world, Star-ron and Laura would never have met. Forced together by Laura’s father, they must survive sweltering summer heat, treacherous terrain, and the escalating tensions between the “juvvies” and the “richies”. If they can’t trust one another, they won’t get to the safety of the cave.
Meanwhile, the aliens are coming. They have quotas and they want children.
